Kazakhstanis Most Often Complain About Wage Delays, Unpaid Salaries, and Labor Rights Violations

This was announced by Meirambek Akhmetov, chair of the State Labor Inspection Committee, as reported by our correspondent.

According to Akhmetov, complaints are submitted daily to both the central office and the committee's regional departments.

"People can file a complaint through our online platform. Every day, the central office and our regional departments receive a large number of appeals. Citizens can also schedule an in-person appointment. The heads of regional departments, my deputies, and I regularly hold public receptions—we listen to people's concerns and help resolve their issues," the committee chair said during a briefing at the Central Communications Service.

He noted that labor inspectors have the authority to conduct inspections, issue official letters, deliver binding orders, and take other measures within their mandate.

"Most complaints involve unpaid wages, delayed salaries, wage arrears, unremitted social contributions, and pension payments," Akhmetov reported.

He also highlighted that Kazakhstanis frequently raise concerns about workplace safety violations.

"For example, when employers fail to provide personal protective equipment or neglect safety training. These are the primary issues. We review each case, provide responses, take corrective action, conduct inspections, issue enforcement orders, and impose administrative fines. In some cases, we clarify labor laws for employers," Akhmetov added.
