Lukashenko slams Belarus livestock sector as a 'disaster' in surprise visit
Belarusian President Lukashenko has visited the Mozyr District.
During his trip to the region, Lukashenko criticized the head of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, according to the state news agency BelTA.
Upon arriving in Mozyr District, the president focused on the state of forestry, agriculture, and—separately—livestock farming.
His remarks targeted the livestock sector in particular. Lukashenko told Ivan Krupko, chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, that conditions in the industry were far worse than expected, as evidenced by inspection reports.
"This is nothing short of a disaster," he said. "I understand that some reports may highlight isolated problems, but what we're seeing here goes beyond a criminal case."
