Bike ban on trains during Ascension and Pentecost holidays sparks travel warnings
Train travellers face new restrictions over the upcoming Ascension Day and Pentecost holidays. Bicycles will be banned on key regional lines during peak hours to manage overcrowding. The measure aims to ease congestion as large numbers of passengers are expected on the network. The bicycle ban will run from May 14 to 17 and again from May 22 to 25. Each day, the restriction applies between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Affected services include the RE8 and RE9 lines, where high passenger volumes are anticipated.
Operators have urged travellers to plan ahead by distributing their journeys across multiple trains. They also recommend packing light to reduce luggage bulk. The move follows concerns that crowded carriages could slow boarding and cause delays.
The temporary ban targets peak travel periods during two major holiday weekends. Without bikes on board, authorities hope to improve comfort and punctuality for all passengers. Those needing to transport bicycles are advised to travel outside the restricted hours.
