MAN Unveils 16-Ton eTGM Electric Truck for Urban Logistics
MAN Truck & Bus has unveiled its latest battery-electric truck, the 16-ton eTGM, at the Transpotec Logitec trade fair in Milan. The new model expands the company’s zero-emission lineup and is tailored for urban and regional deliveries.
The MAN eTGM was presented alongside offerings from other major manufacturers at the Milan event. Designed for distribution logistics, it provides a range of up to 480 kilometres on a single charge. Its chassis supports a payload of around 10.6 tons, while the gross combination weight can reach 33 tons.
The company’s Munich plant assembles both diesel and electric trucks on the same production line. This flexible approach allows MAN to adjust output based on demand. Battery packs for the eTGM are manufactured in Nuremberg, ensuring in-house quality control and expertise. Friedrich Baumann, Board Member for Sales & Customer Solutions, described the eTGM as an ideal electric solution for its target applications. MAN also advocates for extended toll exemptions on zero-emission trucks to give fleet operators greater financial predictability. Beyond vehicle performance, the economic success of electric trucks depends on supporting infrastructure and operational planning. Meanwhile, MAN views hydrogen as a complementary technology, demonstrated by its small-series hTGX model with a hydrogen combustion engine.
The launch of the eTGM strengthens MAN’s position in the electric truck market. With a focus on urban and regional transport, the model aims to meet growing demand for sustainable logistics. The company continues to balance battery-electric and hydrogen solutions while pushing for policies that support zero-emission fleets.
