Massive police raid in Delmenhorst targets illegal gambling and drug rings
Police and customs officers carried out a large-scale operation in Delmenhorst on the evening of May 9. The crackdown targeted illegal gambling and drug trafficking in several bars across the city. Authorities focused their efforts on the districts of Düsternort and Hasport. The joint operation involved officers from the federal police, tax investigation units, and the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior. Support came from Oldenburg’s main customs office, which coordinated the searches and inspections. Media relations were managed in partnership with the Oldenburg Public Prosecutor’s Office.
During the checks, multiple violations were uncovered. Evidence was seized, and new criminal proceedings were launched against those involved. Parts of Düsternort experienced temporary traffic disruptions as roads were closed off to assist the operation.
The operation resulted in penalties for several offences. Authorities confiscated evidence linked to illegal activities and initiated further investigations. The crackdown aimed to reduce crime in the targeted areas.
