Mexico and EU strengthen ties ahead of pivotal May trade talks

As part of negotiations for the Modernized Global Agreement, Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco made his first official visit to the European Union.

In talks with High Representative Kaja Kallas, the head of Mexico's Foreign Ministry (SRE) explored opportunities to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

"The Modernized Global Agreement will take our strategic partnership to the next level," the European Union emphasized.

"Foreign Secretary Roberto Velasco is in Brussels to finalize arrangements for the European Union's visit in May," President Claudia Sheinbaum said during her morning press briefing on Monday. "They are coming to sign or update the trade agreement with Europe, which will be finalized in May. He is there today to work out the details of this meeting."
