Moers Unveils New Emergency Station to Boost Critical Care Response
Alongside Dr. Ralf Dittmer, the medical director of emergency services, André Gesthuysen and Tobias Wissen (heads of Moers Fire Department), as well as Dr. Lars Rentmeister (board member for public safety and order, Wesel District), they inspected the new emergency station, which entered service in early April 2026.
By relocating the emergency response unit from the fire station on Essenberger Straße, Wesel District has taken another key step in implementing its emergency medical services plan. The new station on Homberger Straße not only provides better accommodations for emergency personnel but also significantly improves access to patients in critical condition. Its central location further enables shorter response times for emergency medical operations.
"Our deepest gratitude goes to all the emergency services staff who work day and night with great dedication and professionalism to ensure the safety of our citizens," said District Administrator Ingo Brohl. "The opening of the emergency station on Homberger Straße is an important milestone in improving their working conditions and strengthening emergency care across Wesel District. Thanks to its central location and modern facilities, responders can reach the scene of emergencies even faster—enhancing safety and, in critical moments, saving lives."
Mayor Julia Zupancic added: "The new emergency station on Homberger Straße sends a strong signal for modern, reliable emergency care in our city. It demonstrates how vital close cooperation between the district and local government is in continuously advancing our infrastructure. For the people of Moers, this means one thing above all: rapid assistance exactly when it's needed most."
