New Designing Safe Schools Training Equips Teachers with Legal Expertise
A new training series called Designing Safe Schools has launched in the Bergisches Städtedreieck region. Organised by the Criminal Investigation Division for Crime Prevention and Victim Support, the programme aims to give teachers and school staff key legal knowledge. The first session took place on April 29, 2026, with around 80 participants attending in Hall 300. The opening event featured presentations by Alina Liebetanz and Tim Winkler from the Criminal Prevention Unit. They covered topics such as handling criminal offences in schools and applying the Child Protection Act (KCanG) in education. The series targets educators from all 200 schools in the region.
Two more sessions are planned for 2026. On July 15, the focus will be on legal duties for public officials in juvenile crime prevention, as well as current trends in youth delinquency and child pornography. The December 9 session will address school-police cooperation in tackling juvenile crime and strategies for recognising and countering radicalisation. Spaces remain available for both upcoming dates.
The training series provides practical legal guidance for school staff dealing with criminal incidents and child protection issues. With sessions running through the year, educators have multiple opportunities to attend. The programme continues to accept registrations for its July and December events.
