Nordhorn’s ‘City by the Water’ Project Advances Alongside Accessibility Upgrades
Nordhorn's Administrative Committee has given the green light to the 'City by the Water' project, while also addressing accessibility needs in the city center.
On September 17, the Administrative Committee approved the planning status for 'City by the Water', following the Urban Development Committee's (UDC) approval of the project's implementation. Meanwhile, the search continues for a permanent location for a second wheelchair-accessible WC in the city center.
To temporarily meet this need, a wheelchair-accessible WC container will be rented and set up at location 3 from the ZOB closure until a new WC facility at the city harbor is completed. The Bavarian Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Affairs, in collaboration with 'Stiftung Leben pur', recently provided a similar mobile container toilet for the 59th Munich Spring Festival.
In other developments, the construction of the Heathway from Mathildenstraße to Gildehauser Weg has been confirmed. Tenders for the projects 'Extension of Jantje Anlegers' and 'Lighting including Electrical Works' will be issued promptly after funding approval. Additionally, the 'VVV-Stadt- und Citymarketing Nordhorn e. V.' will relocate to the 'Stadthaus Innenstadt'.
Nordhorn continues to progress with its urban development plans, with the 'City by the Water' project moving forward and accessibility improvements on the way. The city also looks ahead to upcoming infrastructure projects and changes in local services.
