Ramadan 2026 begins February 19 with unity and reflection in Bergisch Gladbach
Ramadan and Christian Lent Begin Almost Simultaneously This Year—Muslim Communities in Bergisch Gladbach Highlight Shared Values
This year, the Islamic holy month of Ramadan will begin almost at the same time as the Christian Lenten season leading up to Easter. Muslim communities in Bergisch Gladbach are taking the opportunity to emphasize, in a joint statement, the common values that strengthen coexistence in the city.
We are publishing a message from the Muslim communities of Bergisch Gladbach:
As Ramadan begins, the German-Albanian Islamic Cultural Center (Deutsch-Albanisch-Islamisches Kulturzentrum e.V.), the IGMG Bergisch Gladbach Local Branch (IGMG Ortsverein Bergisch Gladbach e.V.), and the Islamic Community (Islamische Gemeinde e.V.) extend their warmest wishes to all Muslims in the city for a peaceful, blessed, and spiritually renewing month.
Ramadan will commence on Thursday, February 19, 2026, and conclude on March 19, 2026.
Ramadan is a sacred time of reflection, prayer, and inner contemplation. Fasting fosters patience, gratitude, and mindfulness. At the same time, this month serves as a reminder of our responsibility toward others—especially those in need and the vulnerable. Solidarity, compassion, and mercy are among the core values that Ramadan embodies.
"Ramadan unites spirituality with social responsibility. It strengthens community, respect, and harmonious coexistence in Bergisch Gladbach," the three communities state.
Invitation to Iftar (Breaking the Fast)
Since Ramadan coincides closely with the Christian Lenten season this year, the Muslim communities also extend their best wishes to all Christians in Bergisch Gladbach for a thoughtful and uplifting period. Both traditions emphasize mindfulness, responsibility, and love for one's neighbor—values that enrich life together in our city.
As in previous years, communal iftar meals will be held during Ramadan, inviting representatives from politics, administration, organizations, and civil society. These gatherings promote dialogue and deepen connections in Bergisch Gladbach.
The Muslim communities wish all Muslims in Bergisch Gladbach—and beyond—a blessed Ramadan.
Ramadan Mubarak!
