Republic of Komi mandates education advisors in all schools by September 2023
The Republic of Komi continues its systematic efforts to support educators who teach and mentor the younger generation. Since 2020, the region has implemented a payment program for homeroom teachers and academic advisors in colleges and technical schools. This was announced by Acting Minister of Education and Science of Komi Oleg Kholopov during the "An Hour with the Minister" live Q&A session at the Public Chamber of Komi.
Over 5,500 homeroom teachers in schools and more than 600 group advisors in vocational education institutions receive monthly financial incentives. The funding comes from both federal and republican budgets as part of the "Teachers and Mentors" initiative under the national project "Youth and Children."
Additionally, the republic is strengthening the role of education advisors to school directors. Currently, 245 such specialists work in schools, colleges, and technical schools across Komi.
According to Kholopov, starting September 1 of this year, education advisor positions will be introduced in all schools in the republic, including specialized (corrective) educational institutions. This will help establish a unified and effective system of educational work centered on the child's individual development, values, and engagement with youth organizations. Currently, education advisors are active in 80% of the republic's schools.
