Russia to Phase Out Child Entry Stamps in Old-Style Passports by 2027

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law eliminating the option to include children's details in old-format international passports.

The amendments apply to the law "On the Procedure for Exiting and Entering the Russian Federation." Previously, five-year passports could be updated—but only to add information about children.

Lawmakers noted that this feature had become obsolete, prompting the decision to remove child-related entries from passports entirely. As a result, all legal references to modifying data in such documents have been scrapped.

The new rules will take effect on January 1, 2027.
