Teen brutally attacks 13-year-old in Rotkreuz, leaving victim hospitalized
A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured in a violent attack by a 15-year-old in Rotkreuz, canton Zug, on March 12. The incident, which started as a verbal argument, escalated into a physical assault that left the younger boy hospitalised with severe injuries.
The confrontation began at Rotkreuz train station, where several youths were involved in a heated exchange. The 15-year-old suspect then turned on the 13-year-old, striking him repeatedly in the face. When the victim fell to the ground, the attacker allegedly kicked him in the head.
The injured boy was rushed to hospital with serious wounds. Police arrested the 15-year-old suspect four days later, on March 16. During questioning, he admitted to the assault. The youth prosecution office has since opened a criminal investigation on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. The suspect remains in pretrial detention while the case proceeds. Under Swiss youth criminal law, severe cases of assault by a 15-year-old can lead to measures such as mandatory therapy, educational supervision, or detention in a secure facility for up to four years. In rare instances, if the offender demonstrates extreme maturity, the case may be transferred to adult criminal law, where sentences range from three to fifteen years.
The investigation into the attack continues, with authorities assessing the circumstances and potential legal consequences. The 13-year-old victim remains in hospital, while the suspect faces further legal proceedings in custody.
