Thieves target Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans in Siegburg electronics heists
Siegburg (ots) — On Thursday morning (March 26), police in Siegburg received reports of two vans from which electronics had been stolen. Both vehicles were Mercedes-Benz Sprinters.
The first van had been parked on Lindenstraße at around 12:00 PM on Monday (March 23). At approximately 7:30 AM on Thursday, the owner discovered that the vehicle had been broken into and that the onboard computer and a monitor had been removed and stolen.
The second Sprinter had been left on Beethovenstraße on Wednesday (March 25). Around 7:00 AM on Thursday, a witness noticed that this vehicle had also been broken into, with two monitors stolen.
Officers responding to the scene determined that in both cases, the triangular window near the door had been pried open, allowing access to the interior of the vehicles.
Preliminary estimates place the total damage in the high four-figure euro range.
Investigators are now examining whether the two incidents are connected as part of an ongoing probe into suspected aggravated theft.
Police are seeking any information regarding the crimes, the perpetrators, or the whereabouts of the stolen goods.
