Multiple Years in Prison for Poisoning Attacks on Rescue Station - Trainee Paramedic Jailed for Poisoning Coworkers with Stolen Drugs Over Six Months

A 25-year-old trainee paramedic has been jailed for poisoning her colleagues with stolen prescription drugs. The Heilbronn Regional Court sentenced her to three years and eight months after she admitted lacing their drinks with atropine. The attacks took place over six months, leaving one coworker hospitalised during an emergency call.

Between October 2023 and April 2024, the trainee repeatedly contaminated her colleagues' beverages with atropine. The drug caused severe reactions, including rapid heartbeats and blurred vision. On at least four occasions, coworkers fell ill after drinking the tainted liquids.

One of the poisoned paramedics suffered a medical crisis while responding to an emergency. The episode forced them into hospital care. Authorities later linked the incident to the contaminated drinks. The defendant confessed to the poisonings but insisted she never meant to kill or seriously harm anyone. She claimed her actions were meant to 'teach her colleagues a lesson' and 'annoy them'. Prosecutors had pushed for an attempted murder conviction, but the court rejected this charge. The case went to trial twice. The first attempt collapsed after a lay judge died unexpectedly. A retrial began in mid-December of last year, leading to the final verdict.

The Heilbronn court found the trainee guilty of grievous bodily harm. She will serve a prison term of three years and eight months. The ruling follows months of deliberate poisoning that put multiple emergency workers at risk.
