Vorkuta Man Convicted for Serving Alcohol to a Minor at Home

A 25-year-old man from Vorkuta has been convicted of involving a minor in regular alcohol consumption. The court handed down a one-year restricted freedom sentence, though the ruling remains subject to appeal. The case centred on repeated incidents at the defendant's home.

The convicted individual invited an acquaintance and her underage friend to his residence on multiple occasions. Each time, he provided them with alcoholic drinks. The systematic nature of these actions formed the basis of the prosecution's case.

Under Russian law, specifically Article 151 of the Criminal Code, such behaviour is illegal. Penalties for involving minors in drinking can reach up to three years in prison. However, the Vorkuta court opted for a lighter sentence of restricted freedom. No public records detail similar cases in the Komi Republic over the past five years. While national legislation sets clear penalties, regional case data remains undocumented in open sources.

The verdict is not yet final, as the legal process allows for further appeals. If upheld, the man will serve one year under restricted freedom. The case highlights the enforcement of laws protecting minors from alcohol-related harm.
