Weekend violence and traffic stop keep Lower Saxony police on alert
A violent assault and a separate traffic incident kept police busy over the weekend in Lower Saxony. In Räubergasse, a woman was injured after an argument turned physical, while officers later stopped an unlicensed driver in Wolfenbüttel under suspicion of drug use. Authorities are now seeking witnesses and conducting further investigations.
On Saturday evening, a 48-year-old woman was struck in the neck during a dispute in Räubergasse. The attacker, whose identity remains unknown, fled the scene with an accomplice on bicycles. Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify those involved.
Early on Sunday morning, at around 5:45 a.m., officers pulled over a 34-year-old man driving a Ford Focus on Friedrich-Schaefer-Straße in Wolfenbüttel. Checks revealed that the driver did not hold a valid licence. Suspecting drug use, police ordered a blood test and launched multiple investigations into the incident.
The woman injured in Räubergasse received treatment for minor wounds, while the driver in Wolfenbüttel faces potential charges pending the blood test results. Police continue to gather evidence in both cases, urging anyone with details about the Räubergasse assault to contact them immediately.
