Wiesbaden's Äppelallee faces months of traffic chaos from May 4
Major roadworks on Äppelallee in Wiesbaden will disrupt traffic and bus services from May 4 to August 14. Commuters and drivers are being warned to plan extra travel time as lanes close and routes change during the three-month project. Construction will reduce Äppelallee to a single lane in each direction between Albert-Schweitzer-Allee and Hagenauer Straße. Drivers will also face restrictions: turning from Hagenauer Straße onto Äppelallee will be blocked, and access to Albert-Schweitzer-Allee from Äppelallee will close entirely.
Public transport will see significant changes. Bus lines 14 and N3 will skip stops at Paul-Ehrlich-Straße, Nansenstraße, and Elsa-Brändström-Straße, instead taking a detour via Regattastraße and Friedrich-Bergius-Straße. Lines 47 and 74 will also be rerouted, running through Im Rosenfeld and Albert-Schweitzer-Allee instead of Friedrich-Bergius-Straße, missing their usual stops. A temporary shuttle will serve the Parkfeld area, connecting passengers to lines 4 and 14 at Robert-Krekel-Anlage and Herzogsplatz. Real-time updates on delays and diversions are available at affected stops, on the ESWE Verkehr website, and in Wiesbaden’s interactive transit map.
The roadworks will last until mid-August, affecting both drivers and bus passengers. Alternative routes and shuttle services aim to ease disruption, but travellers are advised to check for updates before setting out.
