Wolfenbüttel police seek witnesses after e-bike theft and hit-and-run crash
Two separate incidents have been reported in Wolfenbüttel over the past week. A high-value e-bike was stolen from an unlocked basement, while a hit-and-run collision left a parked car damaged. Police are now appealing for witnesses in both cases.
Between Wednesday evening at 9:00 PM and Friday morning at 11:00 AM, a black Hercules-brand e-bike worth around €4,000 was taken from the basement of an apartment building on Am Heckenkamp street. The owner had left the storage area unlocked, allowing the thief to remove the pedal-assist bicycle without forced entry.
In a separate incident, a black VW ID.7 was damaged in a hit-and-run collision on Am Kruggarten street in Wolfenbüttel-Linden. The accident happened sometime between Wednesday, May 15 at 5:00 PM and Friday, May 16 at 6:15 PM. The driver responsible fled the scene without leaving any details or reporting the crash. Authorities are now asking for public assistance. Anyone with information about the stolen e-bike should contact Wolfenbüttel Police Station on 05331/9330. Witnesses who saw the collision or the fleeing vehicle are also urged to come forward. The extent of the damage to the VW ID.7 remains unclear at this stage.
Both cases are under investigation, with police relying on public tips to identify those responsible. The stolen e-bike’s owner faces a significant loss, while the hit-and-run victim awaits an assessment of their vehicle’s damage. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to reach out immediately.
