Woman escapes knife attack after bystanders intervene in Osnabrück assault
A 21-year-old woman was attacked with a knife in Osnabrück early Monday morning. The incident took place at a bus stop in the Atter district around 7 a.m., leaving the victim with injuries that required hospital treatment. The assailant, a 26-year-old man known to both the victim and police, forced the woman into his car. She managed to escape at a traffic light on Natruper Straße shortly after 7:30 a.m. During the struggle, the man stabbed her before she broke free.
Bystanders noticed the altercation and stepped in, forcing the attacker to release the woman. Their intervention prevented further harm. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle. Police have launched a search for the man, who remains at large. Authorities confirmed he was already known to them prior to the attack.
The victim received outpatient treatment for her injuries. Police continue to investigate the incident while searching for the suspect. The quick actions of bystanders played a key role in stopping the assault.
