Berlin police arrest suspect in two Charlottenburg-Nord arson attacks

Berlin police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with two arson attacks in Charlottenburg-Nord. The suspect, identified as Patrik L., a German national, is believed to have carried out the attacks on June 7, 2024, and September 3, 2024, targeting multiple vehicles near Plötzensee Prison. Authorities suspect the same individual was responsible for both incidents, with investigators releasing videos showing a man at the scene of each crime. After analyzing footage and gathering witness statements, police identified and arrested Patrik L. following months of surveillance and evidence collection. The case remains under investigation as authorities examine possible motives and additional evidence, with police not ruling out further charges or connections to other unsolved crimes in the area. Patrik L. now faces legal proceedings for the alleged arsons, following a coordinated effort by Berlin police to track down the suspect using video evidence and public assistance. Further details on the investigation are expected as the case progresses through the courts.
