Berlin police clash with bystander after catching dumpster graffiti artist
Two separate incidents unfolded in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district on Wednesday evening. Police first spotted a man spray-painting a dumpster, then faced resistance from a bystander who interfered with their work. Both individuals were later released at the scene.
At around 6:30 p.m., two officers observed a 49-year-old man spray-painting a dumpster on Prenzlauer Allee. As they attempted to identify him, a 47-year-old bystander stepped in and disrupted the process.
The 47-year-old refused to leave when ordered and physically resisted officers. During the struggle, one officer suffered a knee injury while trying to subdue him. Despite the confrontation, both the spray-painter and the interfering man were released without further action at the location.
Local precinct detectives have since taken over the investigation into both the property damage and the obstruction of police operations.
The incidents resulted in no immediate arrests, though authorities continue to examine the events. The injured officer’s condition has not been disclosed, but the case remains under active review by detectives.
