BMW reshuffles leadership as new CEO and strategy chief take charge

BMW has announced a major leadership change as Milan Nedeljkovic prepares to take over as CEO on Thursday. Alongside this shift, Michael Nikolaides will move into a new role as the company’s head of corporate strategy. The two have previously collaborated on key projects, including digital advancements in manufacturing and the introduction of humanoid robots at BMW’s Leipzig plant. Michael Nikolaides has spent the last four years managing BMW’s global production network and logistics. His responsibilities included tackling strategic challenges such as plant utilisation, model allocation, and navigating geopolitical risks. Supply chain bottlenecks were also a key focus during his tenure.

In his previous position, Nikolaides worked closely with procurement and sales teams. He played a central role in driving the digital transformation of BMW’s manufacturing operations, a project he developed alongside Milan Nedeljkovic. Together, they recently unveiled humanoid robots designed for deployment at the Leipzig factory. Now, as Nedeljkovic steps into the CEO role, Nikolaides will report directly to him. Their long-standing professional relationship has positioned Nikolaides as a trusted ally, reinforcing his influence in BMW’s future strategic direction.

The appointment of Nikolaides as head of corporate strategy marks a continuation of his collaboration with Nedeljkovic. His experience in production, logistics, and digital innovation will shape BMW’s approach to global challenges. The company expects this leadership change to strengthen its strategic planning moving forward.
