Freiburg's WOMI Project Expands Support Hours for Migrants and Homeless
Freiburg's WOMI Project Expands Support for Migrants and Those at Risk of Homelessness—With Updated Consultation Hours
A Freiburg initiative offering assistance to migrants and people facing homelessness, the WOMI project has updated its consultation hours. Launched in July 2025, the program is a joint effort by the Office for Migration and Integration and the Social Services Department.
Short for Housing—Shelter—Migration—Integration, WOMI primarily targets recent EU migrants in need of help reintegrating into the housing and labor markets. According to the city of Freiburg, the team provides guidance on issues such as rent arrears, applying for housing vouchers, workplace or health insurance challenges, and questions related to social welfare and residency law.
Outreach is designed to be easily accessible, with advisors meeting clients in shelters, emergency overnight facilities, and counseling centers. The goal is to fill gaps in the support system and complement existing services.
The updated in-person consultation hours apply to both the Office for Migration and Integration on Berliner Allee and the KontaktNetz center on Eschholzstraße. Telephone counseling hours have also been adjusted.
