Görlitzer Park fence damaged in latest Kreuzberg security breach

Berlin (dpa/bb) — Sections of the fence at Görlitzer Park in Kreuzberg were damaged overnight into Sunday. Police reported that the damaged area measures roughly 2.5 by 3.5 meters. When asked for details, a police spokesperson could not describe the exact nature of the damage, nor could they say who was responsible.

The affected section is a fence panel at the corner of Görlitzer Straße and Oppelner Straße. A security guard noticed the damage during a routine patrol and alerted police.

In late February, one of the park's entrance gates was also vandalized when unknown individuals cut through the lower hinge bolt using a tool. The nighttime closure of Görlitzer Park has faced widespread criticism, repeatedly sparking demonstrations and protests.
