London's 'Elevator of Dreams' Gives 120 Women Entrepreneurs 60 Seconds to Shine

Over 120 women entrepreneurs gathered outside Virgin Hotels London in Shoreditch to pitch their business ideas in a unique event. The 'Elevator of Dreams' initiative gave each participant just 60 seconds to present their vision via video doorbell, aiming for global exposure and expert feedback. The event was organised by Nitika Vyas and Elisabeth Prager, co-founders of Aila Money, a platform designed to improve financial literacy and confidence among women. Their goal was to highlight the persistent barriers female entrepreneurs face in securing funding and support.

Statistics show that only 20% of UK businesses are led by women, with just 2% of venture capital flowing to female-founded companies. The Elevator of Dreams sought to change this by offering a direct route to visibility and networking. All pitches submitted during the event now appear on the HelpBnk platform, where entrepreneurs can connect with potential investors. The top ten participants will also receive mentorship from Virgin StartUp, an organisation that has provided over £80 million in Start Up Loans since 2013. Diana Greenhalgh, an attendee, described the event as a perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day—by creating real opportunities for female-led businesses. Entrepreneur Simon Squibb added that the diverse turnout should encourage more women to step forward with their ideas.

The initiative provided a platform for women to showcase their ventures while addressing the funding gap in female entrepreneurship. With continued support from programmes like Virgin StartUp and Aila Money, participants now have access to resources that could turn their 60-second pitches into long-term success.
