Magadan man faces trial for drunken assault on ex-wife at her workplace
Magadan, April 29 – Prosecutors in Magadan have approved an indictment against a 55-year-old local resident on charges of inflicting moderate bodily harm under Part 1 of Article 112 of Russia's Criminal Code, the press service of the Magadan Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.
The investigation was conducted by the Magadan City Department of the Russian Interior Ministry.
According to investigators, after years of cohabitation, the couple separated. In November 2025, in the evening, the man—while intoxicated and driven by jealousy—began calling his ex-wife, hurling insults at her, and later arrived at the store where she worked to confront her. An argument erupted between the former spouses, during which the man repeatedly struck the woman in the head with his hands and feet. Witnesses called the police and an ambulance; the victim was taken to the hospital. The injuries she sustained were classified as moderate bodily harm.
Following the incident, the man admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, apologized to the victim, transferred 200,000 rubles to cover her medical expenses and compensate for moral damages, and decided to quit drinking.
The criminal case has been sent to court for trial.
