Massive water tank and Safe Passage project transform Ciudad Cuauhtémoc by May
Ecatepec, Mexico—The Ciudad Cuauhtémoc Master Water Tank will begin operations in May, announced Ecatepec Mayor Azucena Cisneros during an inspection tour of the facility and the Safe Passage project along Pichardo Pagaza Avenue.
The mayor explained that the tank will start filling at the end of April, with crews on standby to address any leaks that may arise.
"This tank will supply millions of liters of water. We're ready to begin filling it by late April, and it will be fully operational in the first week of May. We have an army of workers ready to tackle any leaks," she stated.
The structure has a capacity of 5,129 cubic meters of drinking water and is located in the Ciudad Cuauhtémoc neighborhood, Xochiquetzal section. Construction is reported to be 90% complete, replacing an older 500-cubic-meter tank.
Cisneros Coss inspected the interior of the Master Tank, which measures 23.87 meters in diameter and 11.45 meters in height.
Later, the mayor oversaw progress on Pichardo Pagaza Avenue, near the Ecatepec Metro station—a key thoroughfare connecting multiple communities. Federal, state, and municipal governments are collaborating to build a Safe Passage along the route, featuring bike lanes, exercise areas, playgrounds, and street lighting.
Additionally, Cisneros visited the construction site of a new school in Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, which is in its final phase of completion.
