Firefighters Test Skills in 65-Kilometre Emergency Response Challenge
The Elm-Asse Collective Municipality recently hosted an emergency response challenge for local fire brigades. Instead of the usual annual performance checks, 21 teams tested their skills across a 65-kilometre route. The event brought together around 150 firefighters for a day of practical exercises and teamwork.
The challenge featured eight stations spread across the municipality. Each fire brigade began at a different point before converging at the awards ceremony in Remlingen. Tasks included rescuing a person from a first-floor window and handling a mock traffic accident with initial response measures.
Organisers ensured the event ran smoothly, with support from the Elm-Asse municipal administration covering food and drink costs. The weather remained favourable, helping the day proceed without disruption. District Fire Chief Jan Fischer and Mayor Dirk Neumann both commended the firefighters for their dedication and skill. Neumann also donated a traveling trophy for the winning team. The top five brigades will now advance to the district-level competition on June 27 in Cremlingen.
The event concluded with recognition for all participants, including station leaders and volunteers. The winning teams will move forward to represent Elm-Asse at the next stage. Organisers expressed gratitude for the strong turnout, with 21 out of 25 possible brigades taking part.
