Sara Davies' MBE Honours a Decade of Crafting Global Business Success
Sara Davies, the 39-year-old entrepreneur behind Crafter’s Companion, has been awarded an MBE for her contributions to the economy. Known for her appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, she has built a business that now employs over 200 people and exports to more than 40 countries worldwide. Yet recent challenges have forced the company to restructure and adapt to rising costs. Davies first made her mark as a student, graduating with a first-class degree while developing The Enveloper—a product that launched her into entrepreneurship. By her early twenties, her business already boasted a turnover exceeding £500,000. Over time, Crafter’s Companion grew into a global brand, supplying crafting materials across continents.
The past few years, however, have tested the company. Post-Covid inflation and Brexit-related uncertainties pushed up costs, forcing Davies to rethink operations. A restructuring followed, with Growth Partner taking a majority shareholding. Despite this, Davies remains at the helm as owner, founder, and director. To secure future growth, the company is now investing heavily in its own development. Crucially, these changes aim to avoid passing extra costs onto customers. Davies has made it clear she is determined to guide Crafter’s Companion back to stability.
The MBE recognises Davies’ impact on business and innovation. With a restructured company and fresh investment, Crafter’s Companion is positioning itself for recovery. The focus remains on maintaining global reach while keeping prices steady for its customer base.
