Woman, 50, dies in Lichtenberg scooter crash after losing control on Frankfurter Allee
A 50-year-old scooter rider died at the scene of a crash in Lichtenberg on Wednesday evening. The woman was traveling along Frankfurter Allee toward Friedrichshain around 9:30 p.m. when, for reasons still unclear, she veered left off the road near Atzpodienstraße and struck the curb of the central island. She lost control of the vehicle and was thrown onto the street, after which her scooter collided with an oncoming car.
Emergency responders attempted resuscitation, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Police closed Frankfurter Allee at the accident site until approximately 2 a.m. The woman's next of kin have been notified.
The traffic accident investigation unit of Police Directorate 4 (South) is handling the case.
