Elderly cyclist dies after e-bike crash with traffic sign in Berlin
A 74-year-old cyclist has died following an accident in Siemensstadt on Friday, June 28, 2024. The man, riding an e-bike, collided with a traffic sign on Tegel Bridge and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital that afternoon. The accident took place when the man struck a traffic sign while cycling. Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided immediate medical care at the scene. Despite their efforts, he suffered severe head injuries and was taken to hospital for urgent treatment.
Police Directorate 4’s specialised traffic crimes unit has now taken over the investigation. Authorities will examine the circumstances leading to the collision and determine whether any further action is required. The cyclist passed away in hospital later the same day. His death follows the head injuries he sustained in the crash. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
