Fire Under Control: Blaze in Lörrach Industrial Building Extinguished

The fire at a commercial building in Lörrach has been brought under control. On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, firefighters managed to contain the fully developed blaze on Grüttweg in the late afternoon. The flames were extinguished by around 5:30 p.m., according to police. BreisgauLIVE had already reported on the fire and the alert issued via the Nina warning app earlier in the afternoon.

Extensive overhaul operations are still underway, with heavy machinery being deployed to eliminate the last remaining hotspots. It remains unclear how long road closures around the scene will stay in place.

Federal highway B317, which had been temporarily closed due to the emergency response, is expected to reopen shortly, police said. The closure had caused significant traffic disruptions earlier.

The fire broke out in the afternoon and quickly spread to the roof of the vacant industrial building. Numerous emergency crews were on site to prevent the flames from spreading further.

The cause of the fire and the extent of potential damage remain unknown at this time. Investigations are ongoing.
