Police crack down on weapons and e-scooter violations in Eutin and Malente

On April 17, 2026, federal and state police in Schleswig-Holstein conducted weapons prohibition checks in Eutin and Malente. The targeted operation focused on both train stations as well as trains traveling between the two towns. According to Lübeck Police Directorate, the enforcement centered on the ban against carrying weapons and knives in public passenger transport. Officers checked over 100 travelers and other individuals in and around the station areas.

The operation was organized by the Eutin police precinct. Between 1:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., a total of nine officers were deployed—six from the state police and three from the federal police. During the checks, they inspected around 100 people at the stations and on trains along the route. The operation was a joint effort between federal and state law enforcement. Passengers on commuter trains between Eutin and Malente were also approached and screened.

As a result, officers initiated three administrative offense proceedings. Reports indicate that folding knives were found readily accessible on some individuals. Additionally, one person was suspected of operating an e-scooter under the influence of narcotics; a blood sample was taken for evidence. A further criminal complaint was filed after an e-scooter was allegedly used without the required insurance coverage.

The checks also led to a hit in the police database: one individual was found to be subject to a location inquiry. No further details about those affected or the status of the proceedings were disclosed.

Police stated that the vast majority of those checked responded with understanding, and many welcomed the officers' presence. Authorities emphasized that the operation aimed primarily to ensure compliance with regulations in public passenger transport.
